When we three were conducting our project, the questions of how to organize our sessions, how to relate our topic to the previous groups and lead out the next groups, and how to make our presentation as successful as the prior groups are always our top concerns. What I have gained from my participation?
I have seen in almost every case, that groups begin building cohesiveness at different times. In the case of COMfrom day one, as a class, I think that we began to come together and were each day after feeling more and more comfortable around each other.
When people are divided up into smaller groups, I think it gives us all a chance to build on ourselves. We are given a chance to get to know someone else, and learn from them, possibly teaching us new approaches to everyday encounters.
As teams begin to form an identity, it builds off of everyones characters. Just through simple conversations about the previous night's events, or perhaps what your teammates are doing the coming weekend, can help to establish an identity. Good communication and a new trusting friendship, I believe, are a good foundation to building a team Identity.
I agree with Adam and that groups started building cohesiveness at different times. I've noticed after completing the first two assignments people are starting to bond with their team members more and feel comfortable around one another. Though this observation the process of building a strong team identity cannot rely solely on in class time, but bonds must be created with group members through out of class experiences.
I think that the team identity assignment really made us build cohesiveness in our groups because we had to define what makes our teams unique. When we named our teams, came up with a mission, and logo, we built our team identity and became comfortable with each other as individuals and as a group.
Everyone focused on their strengths in the resume and what they contribute to their team. The contract was helpful to set up some team "rules" of what each member expects and wants within their groups.
I was not thrilled with the team identity assingment at first, but once we got into it, it turned out to be a really good and fun assignment. Our group had some great brainstorming ideas and overall I felt we were all more honest and open and therefore were more productive because we weren't all worried about what other members would say.
Our level of group worth and cohesiveness was certainly increased with this assignment. I had a good time working on this assignment.
Building a team identity can be a fun task because it is your team's identity and it is your own. This makes it specific to your group and almost makes your group like a "clique".
This was good for this assignment. I have observed that the different teams in our class have many different qualities. Some groups are identified as funny. Some are serious; and some are both. This group diversity is great and brings interesting presentations to the table.
When a group forms their identity; they usually present in a certain way or add something in their presentations that stands out. This makes the class atmosphere fun and helps each group to identify other groups by unique qualities.
Since everyone has different qualities, might have the same qualifications, but use their skills differently and apply them differently to situations.
It is very hard to combine individual identities, because of the different variations. But I think once you have a team identity placed, you start seeing individuals in groups volunteer themselves to complete certain activities because of their experience and or expertise in that field.I’m graduating medical school tomorrow, and I can’t stop thinking about this essay!
